Yoga for Mental Health 50hr Content
Health is not merely the absence of illness. Health is the optimal integration of the biological, psychological and social aspects of the human experience.
Over the last few decades there has been an increasing interest in the effects of stress on the mind and body with new emerging fields of study such as Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) which look closely at the interaction between psychological processes and the nervous and immune systems of the human body.
Current research on effective interventions for chronic stress, mental health conditions and trauma advocate for approaches that integrate embodied practices such as yoga and mindfulness training. When applied with an informed approach these practices assist in establishing a sense of emotional, mental and physical safety for an individual through developing skills in regulation and awareness.
Yoga as a system is designed to first support an individual to discover the connection between their mind and body (intra-relational) and then secondly, to support the individual to discover the connection between themselves, others and the environment (inter-relational).
